The Honourable Justice Margaret Beazley AO was appointed judge of appeal of the NSW Court of Appeal in 1996 and President of that court since March 2013, succeedingThe Honourable Justice James Allsop SC. She first woman President of the court.
Her Honour was previously a member of the Industrial Relations Court of Australia (1994-96), judge of the Federal Court of Australia (1993-96), additional judge of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory (1994-97), Assistant Commissioner of the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (1991-92), acting judge of the District Court of NSW (1990-91) and Judicial Member of the NSW Equal Opportunity Tribunal (1984-88).
In 2006, her Honour was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia.
Her Honour graduated from the University of Sydney in 1994 with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours. She commenced her legal career at the Sydney bar in 1975 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1989.
